In the ancient Greek language Kouros means "male figures" was the original name for these gay sculpture figures, but after extensive analysis these figures can be likened to the gay Romans of Fellini and Petronius's Satyricon. Satyr, the root of Satyricon, is defined in Greek mythology as the deity who is composed of half man and half goat that inhabited wild and desolate regions of the earth. Somewhat of a sexual connotaion is referrence to the Fellini movie Satyricon. When it is said, "the satyrs shall dance" means that the place referred to looks like it has or will fall into ruin or waste through devilish or riotous merriment carrying on. It was common in the ancient Roman legion for male warriors to be close, this was especially the case for Roman warriors who fought together and lived together as companions.
